4-3-12 Medina, Ohio— Medina County again ranked 3rd in Health Outcomes and 4th in Health Factors out of 88 Ohio counties in the 2012 County Health Rankings report by the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin released today. 2-24-12 The Medina County Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) Program will assist 15-20 Medina County homeowners who lack the financial resources to replace failed or failing Household Sewage Treatment Systems (HSTS). The program will especially help those situations which pose an immediate threat to the health and safety of the occupant and to the environment. The Medina County Health Department will determine the extent of the HSTS failure and will prioritize work. There is no fee to apply for these funds. 2-3-12 The Medina County Health Department Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Division and Medina Hospital, a Cleveland Clinic hospital, are partnering to present Medina County’s 9th Annual Baby Fair. The Baby Fair is sponsored by Child Source. The Baby Fair will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Edward A. Hall Conference Center (Entrance A), at Medina Hospital. This free event will provide information about health, nutrition, breastfeeding, and community services for infants, toddlers, and expecting parents. Car seat safety education will be provided at the Baby Fair. 1-23-12 In 2006, Jamie McNeeley began her journey to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) while working for the Medina County Health Department Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Division as a Certified Lactation Counselor. The program included hundreds of counseling hours and specialized training as well classes on child and maternal health. Jamie finished the IBCLC program and passed the exam in 2011.
