INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL HEALTH CLINIC


You can pack for your trip the night before, but you need your immunizations much sooner!

Remaining healthy while traveling is a major concern among travelers. Public Health Physicians and Nurses provide travel health counseling and pre-travel immunization recommendations to travelers of any age. Travel consultation is based on the most recent information on international travel from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

If you are traveling to a region where Malaria prevention is indicated, there are several options for protection. Please visit
the Malaria link www.cdc.gov/malaria/travelers/drugs.html to familiarize yourself with the options.      
                             
All recommended vaccines for international travel, including yellow fever, are available through our clinic. The best time to schedule your appointment is at least 8-10 weeks before your trip because a series of immunizations is often recommended. If it is less than 8-10 weeks before you leave, you need to contact the travel clinic to discuss immunizations and other information to protect you from illness while traveling.  There are two steps to the travel health process:  a telephone consultation and a clinic appointment.

Public Health Nurses can give you the most appropriate information only if you know the regions and countries in which you plan to travel. Therefore, please have the following available before you call:
  • Your complete itinerary
  • Your immunization records
  • Your medical history, allergies, and current medications
  • Any paperwork provided to you by your organization or travel agent
Please allow approximately 30 minutes for the telephone consultation and a minimum of 30 to 45 minutes per person for the clinic appointment.

Travel health clinic services are available by appointment only. There is a fee for the telephone consultation and the clinic appointment, as well as all immunizations you receive. Full payment is expected at time of service.  We are unable to bill private health insurance plans for these services. 

For these services we accept cash, in-county checks, Visa, and MasterCard.
