CAMPGROUNDS

State law (Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3733) requires the annual licensing and inspection of all campgrounds within a local health jurisdiction.  As specified in state regulations, campgrounds are divided into five categories for licensing purposes: recreational vehicle parks (for RVs); recreation camps (pop-up campers and tents); combined park-camps (contain a combination of RVs, pop-up campers, and tents); temporary park-camps (camping units located at short-term fairs and festivals); and resident-day camps (4-H, Girl Scout/Boy Scout-types of camps for overnight/day camping).

Our inspections look at a camp’s overall sanitation and safety which include: proper sewage, wastewater, and refuse disposal; spacing between units; restroom and shower facilities sanitation; electrical safety; and playground equipment safety.

All of our inspection records are public records and are available to the public during our regular business hours.  Although walk-in requests are welcomed, if possible, it is best to call first to see if a campground program inspector is available to help answer any questions that may arise during review of the records.

Please call our office weekdays between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at (330) 723-9523 with questions about our Campground Program.
