CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENT IMMUNIZATION SERVICES

Appointments are preferred; walk-ins will have to wait for an opening in the schedule. To schedule an appointment please call 1-888-723-9688 or 330-723-9688.

Students Entering 7th Grade in the 2010-2011 School Year MUST Have Received a BOOSTER IMMUNIZATION BEFORE They Should Be Permitted To Attend School In The Fall  (ORC-3313).

ü The addition of a diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (Tdap) booster for seventh-grade students.

ü The addition of a second dose of varicella (a progressive requirement starting with kindergarten for 2010); and

ü The fourth dose of polio being administered on or after the fourth birthday.

The most significant change is the Tdap booster for incoming seventh-grade students, because currently only 30 percent of these students have received this inoculation!

The Medina County Health Department Division of Public Health Nursing is working with each school district to provide immunizations. Call 330-723-9688 or toll-fee at 1-888-723-9688 for details, or contact your school.

You may also call to make an appointment at the Health Department to keep your child up-to-date with his/her immunizations.

Public health nurses will be at the Cloverleaf Recreation Center on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Click here for a Tdap consent form and Vaccine Information Sheet (VIS).

Childhood vaccines (immunizations) are recommended for routine preventive health care for all children and adolescents. These vaccines protect your child from many diseases by providing immunity to the disease without getting sick. Vaccines are given within a range of ages starting in infancy and continuing into adolescence and young adulthood. The Medina County Health Department will review with you what vaccines are recommended for your child or adolescent during a clinic visit.   Immunizations play a major role in keeping children and adolescents healthy.

Immunizations are provided at the Health Department Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and at monthly clinics in Wadsworth and Lodi.

Immunization services are partially funded by a grant from the Ohio Department of Health.
